I was born and raised in Oakland California and am the oldest of eight children. Growing up in a low-income household, my parents never discussed money but instead messaged the importance of going to college, earning a degree, and obtaining a good job. In 2007 I became the first in my family to graduate from college by earning my bachelor’s degree in Exercise Biology from UC Davis. Instead of going into the medical field, I married the love of my life who I met at UC Davis and decided to work as a college advisor for an outreach program through UC Berkeley. As a college advisor my focus was to help students from underserved low-income communities successfully navigate the college admissions processes.
In 2012 life seemed great and my wife was expecting our second child when unexpectedly, my father passed away from a short battle with kidney cancer. My family was not prepared for this. He was the breadwinner and took care of my mother and my younger siblings financially. From his passing, I learned firsthand the negative effects of not having a financial plan nor insurance in place can have on a family. This was the tipping point that caused me to transition into the financial services industry. I decided to go back to school, and I earned my MBA from Mills College in 2015 and immediately began a career in the insurance and financial services industry. I love what I do, and I enjoy helping equip my clients with the tools and resources they need to achieve their financial goals. Joining Harris Private Wealth has provided me with the opportunity to continue doing what I love.
